Ukrainian Heritage Month in Ontario

Ukrainian Heritage Month in Ontario was officially proclaimed through the Ukrainian Heritage Month Act (Bill 215), which received Royal Assent on December 19, 2024.

Each September, communities across Ontario recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, and contributions of Ukrainian Canadians through educational, cultural, artistic, and community initiatives.

This year's theme, Culinary Heritage of Ukraine, highlights the traditions, regional diversity, and cultural significance of Ukrainian cuisine while recognizing the important role food plays in preserving heritage, strengthening communities, and sharing Ukrainian culture with future generations.

The project is an initiative of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Ontario Provincial Council (UCC-OPC), led by Liliya Gulych, Chair of the Ukrainian Heritage Month in Ontario Committee.

Restaurants, cafés, bakeries, Ukrainian grocery stores, museums, libraries, festivals, cultural organizations, and community groups are invited to participate.

For restaurants & organizations

Whether you're serving a Ukrainian dish, creating a special menu, offering Ukrainian products, or hosting a tasting, workshop, exhibition, or cultural event, we invite you to join this province-wide initiative celebrating Ukrainian culinary heritage.

Official participants will receive promotional materials, be included on the interactive participant map, and be showcased across the Ukrainian Heritage Month social media platforms.

Participation is free for all eligible businesses and organizations.
